Joseph Rudolph Childress

Obituary Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2015
Joseph Rudolph Childress, 86, of Jefferson, formally of Hall County, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at North Ridge Medical Center following an extended illness.


Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 5:00 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Clack Stubb will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 3:30 -5:00 prior to the memorial service.


Mr. Childress was born on July 11, 1928 in Lynchburg, VA to the late Henry and Vertie Shelton Childress. He was retired from General Motors and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He attended Coyne College in Chicago, Illinois where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Dr. Pamela Jean Childress, brother, Henry Childress, sister, Edna Childress Brownlow.


Mr. Childress is survived by his wife, Betty Grigg Childress of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy Rudolph and Cynthia Jarrard Childress of Jefferson; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Bob Boudreau of Braselton; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sister, Lois Childress Williams of Burgaw, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Sylvia Childress of Lynch Station, VA, Donald and Evelyn Childress of Lynch Station, VA; several nieces and nephews.
