Hoyt James Fowler

Hoyt James Fowler, 89, of Gainesville passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Ronny Shiflett and Dr. James Ransom will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Fowler was born on January 5, 1926 in Gainesville to the late Leonard and Ollie Stephens Fowler. He was retired from Veterans Cab Company and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lewis Garrett and brothers, Grady and Vernon Fowler.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Jeff Garrison of Gainesville; daughters, Patricia Garrett of Gainesville, Betty Martin of Flowery Branch, and Laura Ledford of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Sue Garrett of Gainesville; love of his life, Nadine Fowler of Gainesville; nieces, Cathy Fowler, Donna Thompson, Renae Powell all of Gainesville; cousin, Carolyn Marlowe of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Helen fowler of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
