Travis Haden 'Bill' White

Obituary Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2015
Mr. Travis Haden "Bill" White, age 87, of Murrayville passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Friendship Nursing Center in Cleveland following a period of declining health.

Bill was born in Hall County to the late W.H. "Homer" and Una Abercrombie White. He was a retired co-owner of White Pump Sales in Dahlonega. Prior to that, he was employed by City Ice Company in Gainesville. He was a past member of the Dahlonega Lions Club and a former member of the Lumpkin County School Board where he served as chairman for five years. He also served on the Jacuzzi Advisory Board for a number of years. Bill was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Zion Baptist Church #2 where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceeded in death by his step-mother, Sarah Abercrombie White, sisters: Edith Couch, Helen White and Alifair White as well as sister-in-law, Frankie Stringer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Kanaday White, son; Jack (Debbie) White, Murrayville, daughter; Karen (Kenneth) Wigley of Dahlonega. He is also survived by sisters; Wanda Parks and Edna Barrett both of Murrayville and Homerell Parks of Clermont, and brother, Leon (Ruth) White of Clermont, brother-in-law, Joe (Connie) Kanaday, Dahlonega brother-in-law, Paul Stringer of Dahlonega and sister-in-law, Frances (Vaughan) Chastain, of Helen; 5 grandchildren Shelley (Keith) Wilson of Murrayville, GA, Jonathan (Jennifer) White of Murrayville, GA, Whitney (Jason) Dockery of Cleveland, GA, Randall (April) Chambers of Murrayville, GA, Lacey (Adam) Johnson of Dawsonville, GA. 13 Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Family will receive friends on Friday February 27th, 2015 from 2pm to 8pm. Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 2pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2. Interment will follow in church cemetery.

Rev. Stephen Gerrells will officiate.

Flowers will be accepted however in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2
