Alan F. Moreno

Obituary Date: Thursday, February 12, 2015
Alan F. Moreno of Buford, GA passed away February 12, 2015. He was born July 2, 1928 in New Orleans, LA. Predeceased by parents, Joseph Jefferson Moreno and Gertrude Marie Weilbaecher Moreno; and sister, Beverly Ann Moreno Pumilia.
Survived by wife, Diane Moreno; daughter, Cynthia Moreno Carpenter (Gary); son, Christopher Alan Moreno (Suzanne); four grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. Mr. Moreno has two nephews, David A. Riso (Renee) of Picayune, MS, and Jeffry Riso (Ann) of Mandeville, LA. He leaves a great-nephew and two great-nieces; three great-great nephews; and five great-great nieces, and a great-great-great nephew. His sister-in-law, Brenda Sue Taylor (Tom); and their daughters and grandsons all reside in Indiana.
Alan attended high school in New Orleans, LA and Biloxi, MS and received his AA degree from Perkinston Jr. College in Perkinston, MS.
In July, 1946, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and was subsequently posted to Tientsin, China, and was then transferred to Tsingtao, China in May, 1947. He was discharged in February of 1948.
He graduated from Ole Miss in 1950 with a B. A. in education.
In August, 1950, he entered Officers' Basic School in Quantico, VA and then served at 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC until January, 1953. He then served in Korea from January 1953 through January, 1954.
After returning stateside, he was an instructor in Officers' Basic School at Quantico, VA until he was discharged June 1956.
In July, 1956, he was hired by the Secret Service in the Eisenhower administration. He served there until 1958. He then went with ATF in Atlanta from 1959 to 1960; Macon, GA 1960 to 1962; Augusta, GA 1962 to 1965; and Pascagoula, MS 1965 to 1967. Moved back to Atlanta to work for the Office of Investigation of the USDA from 1967 to 1978 when he retired as a supervisory special agent, and moved to his Krazy Kreole houseboat!
Cremation arranged by Flanigan Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 21, in the chapel at Flanigan Funeral Home. No flowers, please; however, any contributions to the American Cancer Society or National MS Assn in Al's name would be appreciated.
