Forrest L. Davis, 86, of Keller Texas, formerly of Dallas, TX and Dawsonville, GA, passed away Wednesday February 4, 2015 in a Dallas hospital.
Born April 30, 1928 in Weatherford, Texas to the late Forest Landon and Minnie Mae Davis, he lived in his home state of Texas since 2001 having moved from Dawsonville. Forrest was a graduate of Adamson High School in Dallas. He was employed at U. S. Gypsum Company where he was the Eastern Region Distribution Manager, retiring in 1989 after 32 years of service. Forrest and his wife Alta lived in the Dawsonville area for 22 years where they operated the Blue Ridge Christmas Tree Farm. Living in north Georgia was their favorite place during their lifetime. He was an artist, fisherman, golfer, and author. Some of his diversified accomplishments include being a licensed Pilot, computer technician in the 50's, certified member of the "American Society of Traffic and Transportation", railroad director, executive in a large international company and an active U. S. Naval Air Reservist. His hobbies included art, photography, cartooning, music, softball, golf, fishing, writing and reading. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alta Mae Etheridge Davis and a son, Kent.
Surviving are his children, Steven Davis, Connie Davidson and her husband Dennis, Linda Barker and her husband Herbert; grandchildren, Heather Cole and Justin Milum; five great grandchildren; sisters, Carnella Phipps and her husband Ted, and Arnetha Dodd.
A visitation will be held Saturday February 7, 2015 from 4 until 6 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday February 8, 2015 at 2 o'clock.
Interment services will be held Saturday February 14, 2015 at 2 o'clock in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest beside his wife and son.
