Rena Carnes Marlow

Obituary Date: Monday, January 26, 2015
Rena Carnes "Granny" Marlow, age 89 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Bell, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Marlow was born June 1, 1925 in Buena Vista, Georgia to Leslie Carnes and Lucy Harden Underwood. She was retired from Milliken Manufacturing and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Buie Royce Marlow, her sons, Paul Duke and Ronnie Duke and her daughter, Yvonne Duke. Granny was a loving foster parent for many years.

Mrs. Marlow is survived by her daughter, Betty Martin of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Garland Kidd of Jonesboro; daughter, Margie Reese of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Gerald Kennedy of Murrayville; daughter, Cindy Wilson of Gainesville; Tiffany Marlow of Gainesville; brother, C.H. Carnes of Albany; grandchildren, Rena and Blake Pendley, Leon Martin, Derek and Penny Jones, Chris Jones, Wanda Reese, Frankie Reese, Amanda Reese, Dustin and Crystal Kennedy, Tonya Kennedy, David Kennedy, Ashley and Richard Chambers, Stephanie Wilson, Darlene Allison, Stephen Duke; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
