Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday January 30, 2015 at Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Sarah Evelyn (Pidge) Nix age 93 of Gainesville. The Rev. Earl Pirkle and Rev. Boone Strickland will officiate. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Nix passed away on Tuesday January 27 at New Horizons Lanier Park.
Mrs. Nix was born September 5, 1921 in Flowery Branch, GA to the late George and Leona Crow. She was a retired nurse and the oldest living member of Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace E. Nix, brothers, Harry Crow, Frank Crow, and Jimmy Crow, sister, Dorothy Hudlow and grandson, Jeff Nix.
Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Boone Strickland, Gainesville, sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Christine Nix, Ray and Diane (Poochie) Nix, Gainesville, sister-in-law, Margie Crow, Flowery Branch, grandsons, Alan Nix, Wallace Nix, David Strickland, granddaughters, Robin Mason and Debbie Hendrix, great grandchildren, Caroline Nix, Cady Nix, Samantha McKenna, Morgan Nix , Micah Strickland, Miranda Strickland, Rachael Hendrix and Jacob Hendrix; 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, Jean Parks, Linda Gilleland, Nephew, Jerry Crow.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at New Horizons Lanier Park and Hospice for the special care given during her illness.
