Mr. Dwain Caudell, age 88 of 480 Old Liberty Hill Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at his residence. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved God first, then family, followed by church, tennis and work.
A son of the late L.M. and Maude Crowe Caudell, he was born February 7, 1926 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a U.S. Marine Corps World War II Veteran. He was Owner/Operator of Caudell's Linoleum and Carpet since 1951, a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher and Director, Clerk and served on many committees. He was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. He was also an avid tennis player. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Smith Caudell in 1998, by two sisters, Beck Kirby and Blondine Leverette and by six brothers, Emory, John, Fred, Gene, Bill and Carl Caudell, and step-mother, Maybelle Caudell.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Rodney Burdette and Lisa Lathan both of Toccoa and Laraine (Lori) and Al Fatherree of Johnson City, Tennessee; son, Steve Caudell of Toccoa; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jimmy Smith of Flowery Branch; two sisters-in-law, Maggie Caudell and Joan Hudson both of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 28, 2 O'clock PM at Sunnyside Baptist Church with The Reverend Jesse Colbert and The Reverend Roy Rogers officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers, Joseph Burdette, Crayton Gaines, Jason Lewallen, Brad Cisson, Dale Payne and Dan Cisson. Honorary Escort will be Tennis Friends, Bob Struble, Bob Evans, Harold Moore, Ben Cheek, J.B. Hudgins, Glenn Jordan, Bruce Stancil and the Sunshine Sunday School Class.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 PM until 9 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church, 1154 Mize Road, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 in memory of Mr. Dwain Caudell.
Interment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with The Reverend John Thomas officiating. Military Honors will be by the U.S. Marine Corps.
