George 'Leroy' Black

Obituary Date: Monday, January 26, 2015
George Leroy Black, age 69 of Cleveland passed away Monday, January 26, 2014, just after celebrating his 69th birthday.

Leroy was born in Cleveland to the late Isaac and Ramie Turner Black on January 10, 1946. Leroy was raised in Cleveland and in 1966 he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. While in Germany he meet and married in 1969 Hannelore Piontek. After returning home from Germany he went to work in Gainesville at the Cadillac dealership. He later went to work at the GM plant in Doraville and learned how to build transmissions, he loved cars especially GM models. In 1987 Leroy opened his shop, he love the work and the customers he had. He was a member of VFW Roy Head Post 16, and Yonah Masonic Lodge where he was a member for over 25 years.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother John Black and brother in law Curley Kuehcler. He is survived by his wife; Hannelore Black, sons and daughters in law Ronald and Jennifer Black, and Marc and Tina Black; sister, Mary Kuechler; brothers and sisters in law, Tommy and Pat Black and Rev. Charles and Diane Black, sister in law Linda Standridge Black, grandchildren James and Nevaih Black; as well as many other family member both here and in Germany.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 6 until 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 2 PM with the Revs. Charles Black and Paul Flynn officiating.
Leroy loved his hometown of Cleveland, the people he grew up with and those he met along the way. He will be missed by all that knew him.
