Christine Sloan Underwood, age 66, of Buford, GA and the Ivy Creek Community passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnie Sloan. She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Lee Underwood, Buford, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Trisha Underwood, Pooler, GA; granddaughter, Siria Underwood, Pooler, GA; mother, Bernice Harris Sloan, Augusta, GA; sister, Shelia Ash, Evans, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ann Sloan, Raleigh, NC; mother-in-law, Alma Underwood Mullen, Savannah, GA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Melanie and Ron Phillips, Savannah, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Underwood was born January 17, 1949 in Chamblee, GA. She was a 1967 graduate of East Atlanta High School and Valedictorian of her class and a 1971 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She was employed by various divisions of Southern Company Services Inc. including Georgia Power, Southern Electric International where she was the Controller, and Mirant from which she retired. She was a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Seekers Sunday School Class and a member of the Camp Branch Ladies' Community Coffee Club in Buford, GA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, GA with Rev. Mac Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends at Hebron Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until time of service and then following the service.
