Ann Prater

Ann Prater, age 96, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, John M. "Jack" Prater. She is survived by her children, Linda and Edward Mitchell, Sugar Hill, GA, Jackie Payne, Chicago Heights, IL, Judy and Brian Hepburn, Orange Park, FL and Jeanne Prater, Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Mrs. Prater was born November 20, 1918 in East Hazel Crest, IL. She was a homemaker. She was an officer of the Salvation Army. She was a former School Board Member of East Hazel Crest, IL for over twenty years, was a former Mayor of East Hazel Crest, IL for three terms, was a member of the East Hazel Crest, IL Fireman's Auxiliary, and served on various other civic boards in East Hazel Crest, IL. She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake, FL. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Monica with Father Jack Durkin serving as Celebrant. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 23, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
