David "Dave" Felton Peterman died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the age of 86. Dave was born on August 11, 1928 in Bridgeboro, Georgia to the late Marion Felton and Irene Barksdale Peterman.
Dave graduated in 1947 from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics. Upon graduation he served in the Air Force prior to beginning a 35-year career in management at Frito Lay in Doraville, Dallas and New Brunswick, NJ. Following his retirement at the age of 62 Dave worked several years as a consultant for PepsiCo International setting up chip production plants in Europe, Central and South America. He also pursued his passions for gardening and cooking. Dave was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church and the Comet Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Watson Peterman; children Kaye Peterman (John McCartney) of Holliston MA, Ken Peterman (Kim Kylstra) of Chapel Hill, NC, Jeff Peterman (Jeannette) of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Scott Peterman, Kevin Peterman, Zachary McCartney, Aaron McCartney, Claire Peterman, Elena Peterman, Hanna Peterman and Kyle Peterman; sisters Sarah (Charles) Ryan, Suzanne Newsom, Marion Peterman and Judy (Jo Ed) Littleton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 5:00-7:00 pm at Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville. A service celebrating Dave's life will be held at Gainesville First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 24 at 2:00.
