Arthur Eugene 'Gene' Hill

Arthur Eugene "Gene" Hill, age 84, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015.



Mr. Hill was born on October 18, 1930 in Newman, Illinois to the late Arthur Benjamin Hill and Verdella Louise Howard Hill. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth Eleanor Wilson and his sister, Betty Eddy. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clarkesville. Mr. Hill was also a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Danville in Illinois as well as a member of the Ansar Shrine, Oasis of Springfield, Illinois. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad, first as a Telegrapher and later as a Clerk in Champaign, Illinois. Mr. Hill retired as First Sergeant from the United States Army, Illinois National Guard, on October 10, 1990.



Survivors include daughters and sons- in- law Candace-and-Orville Hudson, Barbara and Dan Alexander; stepdaughter and step son- in-law; Andra and Tom Knecht;; brother Dean Hill; as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.



A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
