Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Ms. Erene Dell Venable, age 87, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 following an extended illness.
Ms. Venable was a life-long resident of Jefferson, GA and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She was born March 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Okie Venable and Lottie (Wade) Venable. She was preceded in death by her brothers, S/SGT Okie Venable, Jr., Jefferson, GA, George Venable, Athens, GA, sister Mildred Murphy, Gainesville, GA, brother-in-law Charles Bowden, Athens, GA, and sister-in-law Frances Venable, Athens, GA.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Jo Bowden of Athens; brother, Cecil Venable of Jefferson, brother-in-law, Radford Murphy of Gainesville, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ms. Venable had a passion for genealogy research and the history of Jackson County. She was known to relatives as the "family historian". She truly enjoyed sharing her findings and photos with relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson. A Graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson, GA with Mr. Joel Murphy officiating.
Flowers are optional, with memorials in memory of Ms. Venable made to the charity of one's choice.
