Dewey Edward Smith, 85, of Oakwood Passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at New Horizons Limestone following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Chuck Nation will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2-8 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born on October 26, 1929 in Dahlonega, GA to the late Ernest and Tommie Hicks Smith. He was retired from Southland Freight and attended First Baptist Church in Flowery Branch. Dewey loved his plants and would spend all day in the yard gardening. He was preceded in death by sisters, Maratha Maynard and Alice Pirkle, brothers, Billy and George Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 67 years, L.E. Smith of Oakwood, daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Yvonne and Curtis Hatfield of Dahlonega, Diane and Rogers Puckett of Oakwood, sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Tommie Smith of Murrayville, Lonnie and Evelyn Smith of Dahlonega, David and Julie Smith of Louisiana, son, Johnny Smith of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Lisa Smith of Cleveland, 27 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, sisters, Margie Gibb of Oakwood, Barbara Sue Cole of Peel City, Alabama, Linda Davis of Alto, brothers, Milton Smith of Massachusetts, Bobby Smith of Gainesville, Clayton Smith of Gainesville.
