Linda Jean Whelchel

Miss Linda Jean Whelchel, age 55, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 08, 2015 following an extended illness.

She fought a valiant battle against cancer for the past eight months. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday the 10th of January at 2:00 at Dahlonega Funeral Home Chapel, Highway 60 in Dahlonega, Georgia. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 prior to the service.

Officiating will be Rev. Steven Davis, Rev. Bobby Whitmire, and Rev. John Roden. A memorial graveside service at Memorial Park in Dahlonega will be held at a later date.

Miss Whelchel is survived by her loving parents, Lindbergh and Betty Whelchel, many cousins. Linda was born on May 11 of 1959, the daughter of Lindbergh and Betty Whelchel.

She was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School and attended North Georgia Tech. She was a loving and giving daughter and a gracious friend to all who knew her. She was known for her love and thoughtfulness in sending greeting cards to so many for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions.

Through the years, she brought smiles and comfort to so many with her "Cards by Linda". The Whelchels would like to express gratitude to Jimmy and Sandy Kemp, Deborah Self, Jay Kemp, Dr. Benny Erwin, Jimmy and Kay Kemp, and Frank Tralies for their dedication and care for Linda.

They sincerely appreciate all the cards, flowers, and food that have been sent and are especially grateful to all who have prayed for Linda throughout her illness.

Special thanks are given to North Georgia Hospice for their love and compassion through the last weeks of Linda's battle with cancer. Gratitude is also extended to Dahlonega Funeral Home.

It is the wish of the family that donations be made to Etowah Baptist Church or to Northeast Georgia Hospice in Linda's memory.
