Lawrence Sheppard

Funeral services for Lawrence Sheppard, age 91 of the Batesville community will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM from the Providence Baptist Church with interment to follow the service in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state in the church from 12:30 until 1:00 PM.

Mr. Sheppard passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Stone Mountain, Georgia on November 29, 1923 Mr. Sheppard was the son of the late Whelous and Petrol Nell Mosley Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard attended Providence Baptist Church. He was a self employed contractor and farmer as well as the owner and operator of Greenwood Horse Farm in Stone Mountain. In addition to his parents Mr. Sheppard is preceded in death by sisters Odell Watkins and Annie Parker and brother J. W. Sheppard, Jr.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn T. Sheppard and sister Gladys Pickens of the Batesville Community, numerous nieces and nephews and many loyal caregivers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2015 from 5-8 PM.
