Mark Hughes

Mark Hughes, age 82, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. He was preceded in death by his son, David Mark Hughes; parents, Mark L. and Lula Hughes; sisters, Evelyn West, Ruby Allison, and Esther Wylie; brothers, Carl Hughes and G. B. Hughes. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Betty West Hughes; daughter, Patti Hughes Byrd and husband Don Byrd, Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Robert and Megan Byrd, Lawrenceville, GA, and Chris and Lisa Byrd, Brookhaven, GA; great grandchildren, Liam Byrd, Addison Byrd, and Caitlin Byrd; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bobbie Jean and Winford Gower, Dacula, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Hughes was born October 22, 1932 in Norcross, GA. He received his education at Norcross High School and was retired from the Department of Revenue as an accountant. He also worked for a number of years for Sears Roebuck. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Alcovy Baptist Church, Dacula, GA. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, GA with Rev. Frank Pratt and Rev. Cecil Ash officiating. The body will lie in state from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Graveside service and interment will follow at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Holloway officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
