Florence E. 'Tootsie' Whitehead

Mrs. Florence Ella "Tootsie" Sims Whitehead, age 78, of Gillsville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 08, 2015.


Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Pine Grove Baptist Church interment will follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Earl Pirkle and Reverend Robert Whitehead will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Friday, January 9, 2015 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville.

Tootsie was born April 11, 1936 in Maysville, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ned Sims and Bessie (Brock) Sims. She was a homemaker and a member Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother James Sims and a sister, Louise Irvin.

Tootsie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Daniel Whitehead of Gillsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Gale and Steve Whitehead and Carol and Randall Abernathy all of Gillsville; son, Scott Whitehead of Gillsville; granddaughter, Crystal Sheridan of Lula and grandson, Steven Whitehead also of Lula; great-grandchildren, Zack Sheridan, Zoey Sheridan, Ashton Whitehead, Cole Whitehead and Luke Whitehead; brothers, John Sims, Gene Sims, W.F. Sims, George Sims, and Jackie Sims all of Gillsville; and sisters, Lois Loggins and Lucille Smith both of Nicholson.
