Evelyn Crawford Cochran

Evelyn Crawford Cochran, 91, of Cumming, GA died on January 7, 2015 at Northside Hospital Forsyth. Born in Atlanta, GA she was the daughter of the late Mahmond and Thelma Johnson Crawford. Her husband, Clifford Earl Cochran, died on November 19, 2012. They were happily married for 66 years.

Evelyn grew up in West End and Cascade Heights, Atlanta. She was educated at Atlanta Girls High and Georgia State University where she was very active in student affairs. Evelyn was co-editor of the annual for two years, Outstanding Graduate in 1944; Ideal Woman Student in 1945; President of Delta Lambda Sorority; member of Phi Delta Theta; and Crimson Key Honor Society.

Evelyn enjoyed living in Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, and Cumming after living in Atlanta the first 12 years of marriage. Over the years, she worked at J.P. Stevens Engraving, Houghton Mifflin Publishing, A.B. Dick, Guilford College, Colonial Stores Corporate Office and Cumming Presbyterian Church. After moving to Cumming in 1975, she served on many juries (some as foreman); Grand Jury and Board of Equalization.

A lifelong Presbyterian, Evelyn was a charter member of Cascade Presbyterian Church, Cumming Presbyterian Church and Parkway Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, piano playing, decoupage, painting, bridge, golf, travel and cruising.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Cliff and Jane Cochran and Candy and John Rumrill; grandchildren, Cameron Cochran, Kelly and Trey Hosey, Wesley and Lauren Rumrill and Tanner Rumrill; great-grandchildren, Mack Hosey, Nolan Rumrill and Harper Hosey; sister, Thelma Jo Akins; and various nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Cumming. Friends are invited to a reception following the service at the church. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Evelyn's memory to Parkway Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association.
