Mrs. Eva A. Sloan, age 98, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Gold City Personal Care Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Lakewood Baptist Church with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Tom Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Friday, January 9, 2015 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sloan was born May 28, 1916 in Gainesville, Georgia the daughter of the late Robert Ashe and Minnie Jane (Mabry) Ashe. She was a beloved Aunt, Sister, Friend and loving wife. Mrs. Sloan was a homemaker and the oldest charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church. She loved her church, Lakewood Baptist and loved to travel with her husband Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis Sloan; sister, Grace Brown; and a brother Ernest Ashe.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gold City Personal Care staff for their loving care of Mrs. Eva for almost 15 years. Also a special thanks to Dr. Jerry Gill of Lakewood Baptist Church for his faithfulness to minister to Eva and her family during these years.
Survivors include one sister, Minnie Lee Hooper of Gainesville; brother-in-law, Donald Brown of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, L.C. and Mildred Sloan of Georgetown, SC; and the following nieces and nephews, Jan and Tony Chester of Dahlonega; Cheryl and Ron Williams of Murrayville; Donna Brown of Marietta; Deena and Stan Sheram of Athens; Joy Lynn Brown of Gainesville and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
