Jerry L. Barker

Jerry L. Barker age 80 of Dahlonega passed away on January 5th 2015 following a rapid decline of a long term illness.

Jerry was an expert mechanic who had raced sports cars when he was younger. He loved farming and was most happy when surrounded by family and friends. He was also happy to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed him. He will be missed by many and remembered as a loving friend, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.



Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Ody Parker and Golda Hudson Barker, first wife Jill and daughter Karen.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie; children Terri Santiago and Dave Fleck, Jeriann Andrews and J Andrews, Eileen Barker and Stephen Temple, Richard Thomas and Becky Thomas, Jason Barker and Wendy Engelhardt; six grand-children, Lisa, Erika, Jennifer, Jordan, Katelynn and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Victor, Ava, and Emma.

Jerry was born in Arkansas in 1934 and spent most of his youth in California. He served in the Navy and remained in Key West Florida for 30 plus years after a discharge. There he owned and operated a service station garage. Jerry and Bonnie then bought property in Dahlonega where he built a house and barn and also cleared land for a successful farm. In 1999 they decided they wanted to travel so they sold their farm and bought a motorhome. They then traveled 3 to 6 months a year, always returning to their townhouse in Dahlonega.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday January 7, 2015 at 11 AM AT Dahlonega United Methodist Church where he was an active member.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Dahlonega United Methodist Church Lisa Care Fund at 107 Parks St. PO Box 455 Dahlonega, GA 30533
