Alfred Erwin Stroud

Funeral services for Alfred Erwin Stroud, age 84 of Clarkesville will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 4:00 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Mark Stroud will officiate with interment to follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Stroud passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Toccoa, Georgia on April 17, 1930 Mr. Stroud was the son of the late Alfred Luther and Annie Pearl Erwin Stroud. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and he was retired from Habersham County Medical Center where he was a security guard. Mr. Stroud was a member of Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 F&AM, YAARAB Shrine Temple, and the Mountaineer Shrine Club. Mr. Stroud was an avid golfer and he was instrumental in many Habersham County youngsters being introduced to the game. He coached ladies softball for many years and he also enjoyed fishing in his spare time. In addition to his parents Mr. Stroud is preceded in death by brothers Reece, Leo, Bruce, Vernon, and Hubert Stroud and sisters Marion Stroud, Kathleen Stroud, Myrtle Eller, and Pauline Dooley.

Survivors include his wife Ethelene Sears Stroud of Clarkesville, daughter and son in law Karen and Randy Crowder of Hixson, Tennessee, brother James Stroud, brothers and sisters in law Avery and Gwen Stroud and Don and Jean Stroud, as well as grandchildren Eric Crowder and Ben Crowder both of Hixson, Tennessee.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Memorial Chapel from 2 -4 PM and from 6 - 8 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2015.
