Lois Shirley Nicholson

Mrs. Lois Shirley Nicholson, age 85 of 1015 Prather Bridge Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Stephens County Hospital.

A daughter of the late Ernest David and Josephine Dover Shirley, she was born March 23, 1929 in Habersham County, Georgia having lived in Habersham and Stephens County a greater part of her life. She was a member of the Toccoa First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Nicholson in 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, June Thomas (Sam Collins) of Toccoa and Ruth Smith of Rock Springs, Georgia; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mike Nicholson of Toccoa, Georgia, Kenneth and Brenda Nicholson and Roy Nicholson both of Demorest, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Frances Porter of Pooler, Georgia and Marion Shirley of Shirley Grove, Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 3, 3 O'clock PM at Shirley Grove Baptist Church, Turnerville, Georgia with the Reverend Jerry Mize and the Reverend David Ritcey officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Benjamin Nicholson, Zach Nicholson, Luke Nicholson, Cole Thomas, Christopher Smith and Nathaniel Smith.

The family will be at the home on Prather Bridge Road and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Interment will follow in the Shirley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Lois Shirley Nicholson.
