Zona Belle Wilbanks

Ms. Zona Belle Wilbanks, age 100 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Halcyon Hospice House following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Scott Wilson, Reverend Darin Vogt and Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
Ms. Wilbanks was born July 23, 1914 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late John C. Cain and Martha Thomas Cain. She graduated from college and received a Lifetime Teaching Certificate. Ms. Wilbanks retired from Hall County School System in 1976 where she taught school for 34 years, with 22 years at Flowery Branch Elementary teaching 1st grade. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for 58 years, with 52 years of perfect attendance of Sunday School. Ms. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Lloyd Cain, Ernest Cain, Hardin Cain and Hoyt Cain, her sisters-in-law, Myrtice Cain, Billie Cain and Kathleen Cain, and her brother-in-law, Clyde Pace.
Ms. Wilbanks is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Patricia & Marion Merck of Flowery Branch, granddaughter, Vicky Wilson of Lula, grandson, Paul Merck of Gainesville, great-grandchildren, Brandy Hicks, Curtis Mooney, Jade Merck, Morgen Merck, Sara Hill and Emily Hill, sister, Idell Pace of Dawsonville, sister-in-law, Gwin Cain of Norcross, 3 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
