Mrs. Jimmie Ruth "Granny" Stephens, age 89 of Gainesville, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at her son's residence in Mosheim, Tennessee following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. George Lee and Mr. Don Barber will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stephens was born October 27, 1925 in Royston, Georgia to the late James Irvin Hall and Clara Jane Parham Hall. She retired from Chicopee Textile Mill with 25 years of service and then later went to work for Atlanta Bread Company, where she was known as "Mrs. Jimmie", working there from the time they opened in Gainesville until her death. Mrs. Jimmie loved going to work every day, seeing all her buddies, keeping herself busy waiting on others and visiting with all the customers, working there for 14 years.
Mrs. Stephens was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Hovie Stephens, her sisters, Esther Lou Hall, Ivory Gladys Hall, Elizabeth Maples and Willie Faye Boone and her brother, Johnny Watson Hall.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, James Hovie, Jr. & Kathy Stephens, of Mosheim, Tennessee, son, Darrell Dean Stephens of Gainesville, 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Kevin, Jenna and Cole, 8 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Noah, Colt, Samantha Ruth, Conner, Allya, Brady and McKenna and a number of nieces and nephews.
