Robert Hearty Burton

Robert Hearty Burton, age 67, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014.

Mr. Burton was born on April 1, 1947 in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late Oscar and Hester York Burton. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Mr. Burton was retired from the Habersham County Road Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jean Burton; brothers, Jim and Hubert Burton; and sister, Judy Weaver. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but above all he was a dedicated "family man."

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Groves; son, Daniel Groves, all of Clarkesvile; Sister, Mary Jane Franklin of Clarkesville, and Winnie Dill of Toccoa, Georgia; brothers, Journey Burton, Jody Burton and David Burton, all of Clarkesville.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Bill Trotter and Rev. Steve Merck. Interment will follow at Cool Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, December 26, 2014.
