Josephine 'Jodi' Watts

Josephine "Jodi" Watts, 86, of Tiger, Georgia went to be with the Lord December 20, 2014.

Jodi was born Apr. 17, 1928, in Atlanta, GA, the second child of James Larkin Vaughan and Vera Iowa Dayton Vaughan. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Commercial High School in Atlanta. She met the love of her life, Vaughan Berryman Watts, at the Baptist Tabernacle in Atlanta, and they were married on June 18, 1949.

Jodi and Vaughan started their family in East Point, GA in 1956. They moved to Fairburn, GA, in 1966, and then built their retirement home in Tiger, GA, in 1997. Jodi was preceded in death by her brother Leonard; her parents; sister Elisabeth and James O. "Red" Frazier of Covington; and husband Vaughan. Jodi is survived by her sister Leona and Robert "Bob" McGinnis of Lilburn, GA; and four sons: Paul and Denise and daughter Savannah of Tiger; Lane and son, Cameron of Doraville; twins Eric and Vicki of Johns Creek, and Alan and daughter Tara of Evans.

Jodi and Vaughan were very involved in community service work; Jodi worked as a Red Cross volunteer at South Fulton Hospital, worked with and received many awards and honors from the Civitan Club, the Odessey Family Counseling Center, and the Moose Lodge / Women of the Moose.

Jodi was named Georgia Homemaker of the Year in 1968, and Jodi's family was named Civitan International Family of the Year in 1972. In her retirement years, Jodi was involved in AARP of Rabun County, GA, the Georgia Poetry Society, and the Mountain Muse Writers group, and was a published author. After several years of attending, Jodi was united with Wiley Presbyterian Church on it's 90th anniversary.

The Family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Tuesday December 23, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The Funeral Service will follow in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Rev. Alice Wood officiating.
