Haughtence 'Polly' Benefield

Haughtence "Polly" Benefield, age 96, of Buford, Georgia (Friendship Community), formerly of Decatur, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Pearl Benefield; sisters, Mildred Bell, Eva Long, Mamie Hanes, Bertie Orr, Mabel Tanner, Ardell Oliver and Jeanette Grindle; brothers, Hubert Benefield and Bronzie Benefield. She is survived by her nieces, Alice and Bonnie Pruett, Buford, GA, Brenda Williams, Buford, GA, Sandra and Kenneth Dowdy, Chestnut Mountain, GA, Alice and Bill Kendrix, Chestnut Mountain, GA, Marie Long, Chestnut Mountain, GA, Mary Hanes, Chestnut Mountain, GA, and Rilla Jones Bell, Chestnut Mountain, GA; nephews, Charles and Jimmie Bell, Buford, GA, Edwin and Effie Long, Winder, GA, Darrel and Terri Long, Chestnut Mountain, GA, Harry and Abby Maddox, Roswell, GA, and Dennis and Dale Grindle, Cumming, GA; numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Miss Benefield was born October 11, 1918 in Hall County. She was a retired office worker in the Atlanta area. She was a member of Friendship Community Baptist Church, Buford, GA, and a former member of Moreland Avenue Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA, where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School class.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Pirkle and Rev. Earl Pirkle officiating. The family prayer in the stateroom prior to the service will be led by Rev. James McNeal. Graveside service and interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 2284 Candler Road, Decatur, GA 30032, with Rev. James Mills officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
