On December 7, 2014, Dr. Sherry Lea DeLoach Maloney of Gainesville, Georgia went to be with our Lord.
Sherry passed away at the age of 58, after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on June 30, 1956 to Allan Lewis DeLoach and Eulalea Ellington DeLoach in Lakeland, Florida. She graduated from Newton County High School in 1974, from Oxford College in 1976, and from Emory University with her B.S. degree in Biology in 1978. Dr. Maloney continued her education at the Medical College of Georgia where she complete her medical degree in 1982, and finished her pediatric residency there in 1985. She practiced at Sherwood Park Pediatrics until September 2010.
Sherry was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister who valued her family and friends. During her spare time she enjoyed painting at the Blue Angel art studio, cooking wonderful meals, attending Bible study with her friends and at their church, sewing, gardening and canning and spending time on Lake Lanier with her family. When possible Dr. Maloney enjoyed traveling to Honduras to serve as a doctor at Orphanage Emmanuel and also to Cumberland Island where she took annual trips with close friends.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years. Dr. Michael James Maloney and children, Jacob, Luke and Grace of Gainesville, Georgia; her mother, Eulalea Deloach Engelhardt of Covington, Georgia; sister, Debbie DeLoach Ball and husband Lamar Ball of Social Circle, Georgia; many nieces and nephews, four great-nephews, one great-niece, sister-in-law, Diane DeLoach Brennan and many loving friends. She and her family are especially thankful for the loving care of her medical team and friends over the past few years. Dr. Maloney is predeceased by her father, Allan Lewis DeLoach and brother, Allan Lewis DeLoach, Jr.

A Memorial service to celebrate Sherry's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. All are welcome.
