Etheleen (Eny) Lomax Kilgore

Obituary Date: Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Etheleen (Eny) Lomax Kilgore, 97 of Gainesville passed away on December 3, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.


Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Tony Elrod and Major Jim Deuel will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kilgore was born on September 8, 1917 in Gainesville to the late David Cleveland and Melrose Holland Lomax. She was a lifelong residence of Northeast Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thurman Kilgore, sisters, Ara Lee Lomax, and Doris Louise Fletcher, brothers, John Harmon "Slim" Lomax, Robert Henry "Bob" Lomax, David Cliffton Lomax, and Raymond Franklin Lomax.

She loved her independence, she lived alone and took care of herself and everybody else until passing. She loved to crochet, sew, cook, and attend family events and gospel singings. She had a generous heart and loved celebrating life to the fullest. Mrs. Kilgore prepared the dressing and gravy and attended the Roberts family Thanksgiving every year including this year not knowing it would be her last.


Mrs. Kilgore is survived by her son, George Henry Kilgore of Hoschton, sister, Montine Roberts and husband James F. Roberts, Jr. of Gainesville, two special nieces, Diane Roberts Stovall of Braselton, Vickie Lomax Gazaway of Gainesville, and a number of other nieces and nephews and also great and great- great nieces and nephews.
