Mr. Boyd Hershal Lewallen, Jr., age 85 of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens, Georgia, surround by his loving family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, December 1, 2014 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Maxey Ladd will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday,November 30th, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Hershal was born in Banks County, Georgia on January 3, 1929. The son of the late Boyd Hershal Lewallen, Sr. and Thelma (Prickett) Lewallen. Hershal lived most of his life in Gainesville. He purchased one of the oldest businesses in Hall County, the J.R. Doster Plumbing Company (circa 1934) in 1975 when Mr. Doster retired. He owned the company for the next 18 years, retiring in 1993. Hershal was an active member of Riverbend Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Jim, Ralph and Jerry Lewallen; and sisters, Frances Crow, Merle Lewallen and Evelyn Carlan.
Hershal is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Edna (Jones) Lewallen of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Doug Forrester of Gainesville; Lynn and Darryl Evans of Lula; grandsons and wives, Scott and Tonya Forrester of Gainesville; Todd and Lauren Forrester of Watkinsville; Bryan and Nikki Peebles of Gainesville; and Brent and Ashlee Peebles of Atlanta; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Riverbend Baptist Church General Fund 1715 Cleveland Highway Gainesville, GA 30501.
