Owen Stanley Martin

Owen Stanley Martin, age 70, of Alto, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Mr. Martin was born February 17, 1944, in Hall County to the late Vernon and Bernice Martin. He was a member of Airline Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was active in the Thorn Sunday School Class. Stanley was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Martin retired from education as a teacher and assistant principal and was the owner and operator of Martin Tax Services. He loved to travel and enjoyed life by cherishing every moment he had and loving everyone he knew. He also loved to play golf and especially loved his golf buddies. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by so many. Above all, his faith in God remained strong until he was called home. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Hayes Martin, parents and brother, Reginald Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Sullens Martin, daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jasen Allison, sons and daugthers-in-law, David and Natalie Martin, Chris and Jessica Sullens, Kevin and Tiffany Sullens; grandchildren, Chelsea and Hannah Allison, Charity, Jonathan, Moriah, Andrew and Bethany Martin.
Funeral services will be held at Airline Baptist Church, Gainesville, GA, at 2:30, Sunday, November 23, 2014, where Mr. Martin will lie in state from 2:00 until the time of service. Rev. Charles Pirkle and Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at Wahoo Baptist Church in Murrayville, GA.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-9 on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Strickland Funeral Home, Clermont.
