Melvin O. Lewallen

Mr. Melvin O. Lewallen, age 83, of Buford, formerly of Lula, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.


Private Family Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Drewery Loggins will officiate. The family will receive their family on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mr. Lewallen was born October 6, 1931 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late Carson Lewallen and Mamie Brady Lewallen. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, with 4 years on the USS Catamount LSD-17 Ship. Mr. Lewallen was retired from General Motors and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Melvin enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Lewallen is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Tatum Lewallen of Buford, daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Ken Irvin of Buford, two granddaughters, India and Ivy Irvin of Buford, brother and sister-in-law, Everage & Evelyn Lewallen of Baldwin, two sisters-in-law, Francis Park and Sybil Hyde, both of Gainesville, two brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Herbert and Lou Tatum of Loganville and Jimmy & Gloria Tatum of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.



Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.
