Michael Joseph Canfield

Michael Joseph Canfield, age 76, of Dahlonega, GA, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday November 15, 2014 in the Hospice Unit of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Michael was born in Detroit, MI on June 3, 1938 to the late Francis and Madeleine Canfield, née Coughlin. He had lived in Dahlonega since 2006, moving here from Pinellas County, FL where he retired from the Pinellas County Government. Michael was also a U.S. Army veteran as well as an avid athlete.

Michael is survived by the love of his life of 54 years, Gail Canfield, née Hennessy; Two sons, Michael and Kevin Canfield; Brooke Canfield, spouse of his son Michael, and their daughter, Flannery Rose Canfield.

Michael is also survived by an older brother, Father Francis Canfield, SJ of Clarkston, MI and a younger sister, Mary Branson, née Canfield of Toledo, OH.

Mike was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA.

A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Father Neil Dhabliwala will officiate.
