Victor Cox Carbine, age 61, of Buford, GA passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Northside Forsyth Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father William Lucius Carbine, mother Roma Kalinowski Carbine, and brother William (Bill) L. Carbine, Jr. He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Valerie Blalock Carbine; two sons, Ryan Kristoffer Carbine, Sugar Hill, GA, and Alexander (Alex) William Carbine, Nantucket, MA; granddaughter, Katelyn Nicole Hanson, Sugar Hill, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Baxter King and Kathy Carbine, Snellville, GA; two nieces; one nephew; and six great nieces and nephews. Victor was born June 21, 1953 in Savannah, GA. He graduated from Avondale High School in Decatur, GA in 1971. He served in the United States Navy on the "USS Independent" as an AK Airman Aviation Store Keeper from 1972 to 1975. Victor coached youth soccer in 1987 and continued to coach t-ball and peewee baseball, basketball and youth football until 1996. For thirty-five years Victor worked for National Steel Company which was sold to Kloeckner Namasco Steel and then Kloeckner Metals Corporation. Victor has been a long-time supporter of Buford Athletics and has cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for the Friday night home football games for fifteen years. He LOVED his Buford Wolves!
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite youth sports association in memory of Victor Carbine.
