Edward "Ed" Dye, Sr.

Mr. Edward "Ed" Dye, Sr., age 84, of Cumming, GA, formerly of Buford, GA, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Ara Brock Dye, Cumming, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, John Edward, Jr. and Sarunya Dye, Cumming, GA, and David Allen and Nancy Dye, Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Michael Edward Dye, David Lee Dye, and Kim Alina Dye; brother and sister-in-law, Dewitt and Mary Ann Dye, Fayetteville, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog, T Beau. Mr. Dye was born September 23, 1930 in Mississippi. He was a 1947 graduate of Sherman High School and a graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor's degree. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired plant superintendent from Sherwin Williams Company in Morrow, GA after twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church, Cumming, GA, where he was a member of a Sunday School class, and a former member of First Baptist Church of Buford where he was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship and the Upper Room Sunday School class. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Bennett and Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, 1390 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming, GA 30040. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Embracing Hospice, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041 in memory of Ed Dye.
