Georgia Marrell Bennett Smith

Georgia Marrell Bennett Smith, 79, of Gainesville, passed away Saturday November 1, 2014. Mrs. Smith was born on May 23, 1935 to the late Lee and Maggie Bennett. Mrs. Smith was a native and lifetime resident of Hall County.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and special friend to all who knew her. She always found time to care for those in need.

She was a member of Chestatee Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Winfred Smith, sisters; Ethel Bennett, Eulene Gazaway, Imogene Roper, Sarah Wilson and Opal Pugh.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Donald W. and Garnett (Katie) Smith; daughter and son in law, Cathy and Tony Black; five granddaughters and grandsons in law, Natalie (Smith) and John McGarvey, Anna Kate (Smith) and John Michael Williams, Fran (Smith) and Justin McCain, Haley (Black) and David Corry, Julie (Black) and Dustin Oliver. In addition she is survived by eleven precious great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Additional family survivors include one sister and brother in law, Linda and Tyson Gittens, three brothers and sisters in law, Pierce and Betty Bennett, Royce and Hilda Bennett, Loyte and Gay Bennett and one brother in law, Mark Gazaway; two sisters in law, Montine Smith and Clarace Young.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Pal Sailors will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Chestatee Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Melvin Woodruff, 322 Atlanta Rd. Gainesville, GA 30501.
