William Royce Brogdon

William Royce Brogdon, age 85, of Carnesville, GA, formerly of Buford, GA, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Emory Midtown Hospital Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Ruth Stewart Brogdon; parents, William Henry and Clara Hosch Brogdon; sister, Wynelle Brogdon Stewart; brother, Frankie Brogdon; sisters-in-law, Mary D'Anna and Polly Stewart; and brothers-in-law, Tony D'Anna and Byron Stewart. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Donald Stewart, Buford, GA; sister-in-law, Kitty Brogdon Dodd, Boling Green, KY; nieces, Elaine and Rev. David Pruitt, Buford, GA, Tracey and Tim Burden, Monroe, GA, and Amy and Jeff Wheeler, Atlanta, GA; nephews, Keith and Melissa Stewart, Buford, GA, Judge Bill and Julie Brogdon, Snellville, GA, Bobby and Mary Brogdon, Dawsonville, GA, and Harry and Cheryl Stewart, Buford, GA; several great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mr. Brogdon was born October 12, 1929 in Sugar Hill, GA. He was a 1947 graduate of Sugar Hill School. He was stationed in Germany while he served in the United States Army. He started out as a salesman with William F. Bishop Wholesale and retired in 1996 as owner of Bishop and Brogdon in Atlanta, GA. He retired to R. R. Angus Farm in Carnesville, GA. He was a member and on the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Cattlemen's Association, a member of the Georgia Angus Association, and a member of the American Angus Association. He was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL, and attended New Bethel Baptist Church in Carnesville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Mr. Dykes Dalrymple and Dr. Wade Bridges officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, 5979 New Bethany Road, Buford, GA 30518 with Rev. David Pruitt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m.
