Albert Ray Marmie

Albert Ray Marmie, age 69, of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Trent Dollyhigh will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Marmie was born December 21, 1944 in Richland Township, Ohio to the late Joseph Marmee and Wilma Juanita Walton Marmee. He was a retired Brick Mason and attended Lanier Hills Church in Gainesville. Al was a Sargent in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Marmie is survived by his wife, Ophelia Marmee of Gainesville, daughters & sons-in-law, Yvonne & Rob Fredley and Karen & Curt Reeder, all of Pennsylvania, step-daughter & husband, Norma Jean & Ron Cain of Lula, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and special sister & brother-in-law, Patti & Russ Solso of California.
