Ellene Ballew

Ellene Ballew, age 61, of Clermont, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Mrs. Ballew was born August 10, 1953 in Gainesville, GA to the late James Harold and Thelma Lou Thomas Gilstrap. She and her husband Jerry owned The Nesting Box and More Pet Shop where they raised and sold hand feed exotic birds. Ellene was a very loving and charitable person; she would give anything she had to anyone. She attended Concord Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Ballew and brother, Randall Gilstrap.

Survivors include her sister, Sue Chandler, Gainesville; niece Whitney Anna Chandler, who attends Georgia Southern University in Statesboro; mother in law, Cat Ballew of Clermont, numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Gloria Gilstrap will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Saturday prior to the memorial service.
