Susie Gibson Bowen

Mrs. Susie Gibson Bowen, age 70 of Falls Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.

A daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Allie Mathis Gibson, she was born July 17, 1944 in Hiawassee, Georgia having lived most all of her life in Toccoa and Stephens County. She was a homemaker, attended the Church of God and was of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benson "Joe" Bowen in 1985, four brothers, J.T., L.J., J.D. and Babe Ruth Gibson and by five sisters, Onoree Roddy, Louise McFalls, Icy Beck, Viola Gibson and Drucilla Whitehead.

Survivors include a son, Robert Bowen of Toccoa, Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Bowen, Lynn and Dwain Smith and Susan and Hank York all of Toccoa, Georgia; grandchildren, Blake Bowen, Christopher and Kayla Isbell, Justin and Logan Smith and Kasey York; sisters, Laverne Brown of Toccoa and Beatrice Harper of Nichols, Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 21, 2 O'clock PM in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Chitwood and Pastor Teddy King officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Justin Smith, Logan Smith, Jeff Bowen, Roger Rousey, Gary Knight and Danny Yearwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Kasey York and Christopher Isbell.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Smith, 1157 Hwy. 184, Toccoa and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.

Interment will be in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Susie Gibson Bowen.
