Mr. James William Hoyt Parks Jr. age 85 of Gainesville passed away on October 16, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday October 19, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Trent Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday October 18, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Parks was born on January 04, 1929 in Gillsville, Georgia to the late Hoyt Parks and Dona Welborn Parks. He was retired from Southern Railway as an accountant/ missionary and was of the Baptist Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jeanette Whitmire, brothers, Horace Parks, Swayne Parks, and Ben Parks.
He is survived by his wife, Hortense Carlan Parks of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Carol Parks Davis and Darryl of Lula, son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Rosalie Parks of Doraville, grandchildren, Chad and Michelle Davis, Ben Parks, Jacob Parks, Jason Davis, and Jackie and Ryan Bramblett, great-grandchildren, Londyn Davis, Annabell Bramblett, Nicole Bramblett and Charlie Davis.
