Joseph Lee Gravitt

Joseph Lee Gravitt, age 72 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Reverend J. L. Yopp and Reverend Brian Malcom will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 6 - 8 and Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Gravitt was born November 11, 1941 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Winfard Lee Gravitt and Verlene Gravitt. He was retired from Johnson & Johnson Textile Mill and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kathy Gravitt.

Mr. Gravitt is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geneva Stargel Gravitt of Gainesville, his daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Harold Kilgore of Maysville, son & daughter-in-law, Steven & Tracy Gravitt of Gainesville, granddaughters, Cari Cooper and Emily Cooper, both of Gainesville, grandsons & their wives, Bryn & Pam Cooper of Key West, Florida and Heath & Shanda Kilgore of Clermont, great-granddaughter, Danielle Kilgore, sisters & brothers-in-law, Denise Stargel & Ralph Fain of Gainesville and Beatrice & Daniel Samples of Baldwin.
