Jack Kenneth Hogan

Obituary Date: Monday, October 13, 2014
Jack Kenneth Hogan, 81, and a long resident of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on October 13, 2014 after a short illness.

Mr. Hogan was originally from Canton, Georgia and a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in accounting. His career started while in college with Cotton Producers Association, which later became Gold Kist Inc., with corporate offices in Dunwoody, Georgia. He retired after 43 years of service as accountant, controller and Vice President of Administration. He also served on the Board of Directors of CoBank in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Hogan was a member of Gainesville First Baptist Church along with this wife, Alice Louise Gober Hogan where he was a member of the Anglers Sunday School Class. He was previously a member of First Baptist Church of Alpharetta and First Baptist Church of Norcross. Hr. Hogan was ordained as a deacon at Brookhaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Georgia.

He is survived by two daughters Carole Hogan Rhodes, wife of Bruce Rhodes and grandsons Michael Hogan Rhodes and Charles Mark Rhodes of Suwanee, Georgia; and daughter Jennifer Ann Hogan of the residence; one sister, Blondine Hogan Chester of Canton; as well as one nephew, Kenneth Hogan Chester of Canton, and one niece, Joan Pickle Sievers of Nashville, Tennessee; along with several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas J. Hogan and Alice Jones Hogan of Canton; daughter Janice Marie Hogan; sister, Eloise Hogan Pickle of Seneca, South Carolina; Jay Dee Pickle, brother in law; and Hubert Chester, brother in law of Canton.

Jack was a faithful supporter of his grandson's Lambert High School Rugby team. He was an avid deer hunter for many years and loved the time spent in the outdoors, especially boating on Lake Lanier and teaching his children to ski.

The memorial service for Mr. Hogan will take place on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Gainesville First Baptist Church Chapel at 2:00 pm., with visitation afterwards in the church parlor. A family burial will be held Thursday, October 16 in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Ministry of Caring at Gainesville First Baptist Church 751 Green Street Gainesville, GA 30501, Eagle Ranch P.O.
