Sara Ragsdale Mize

Mrs. Sara Ragsdale Mize, age 88, of Augusta and formerly of Toccoa, passed away on October 9, 2014 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

A daughter of the late Oscar and Bertha Kesler Ragsdale, she was born December 15, 1925 in Banks County, Georgia, having lived most of her life in Stephens County, Georgia. She was employed with Guy Arthur and Associates in Toccoa for a number of years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Mize in 1966, by three brothers, Palmour, Charles and J.B. Ragsdale, one sister, Faye Ragsdale Caudell and one nephew, Elliott Caudell.

She leaves behind, one daughter, Jan Mize Horton of Augusta, Georgia; two sons, Dale Mize and wife, JoAnn of Tampa, Florida and Johnny Mize of Augusta, Georgia; six grandchildren, Layla Perez of Augusta, Damion Perez and wife Kelly of Augusta, Jason Mize and wife Ashley of Tampa, Florida, Michael Mize of Tampa, Florida, Jake Mize and wife Amber of Charlotte, North Carolina, Paul Mize of Charlotte, North Carolina; Great Grandchildren include, Mize, Reese, Caleb, Lincoln, Amira and Isabella; One sister-in-law, Mrs. J.B. Ragsdale of Toccoa; one aunt, Mrs. Laverne Kesler Addison of Elberton. Nieces and Nephews include, Larry Hewitt, Steve, Bill, Mike Eddie and Gary Ragsdale, nieces, Karen Ragsdale Barnes and Susan Ragsdale Kesler.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 13, 2014, 2 O'clock PM from the Memorial Chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Henry Fields and the Reverend David Ritcey officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bill Ragsdale, Mike Ragsdale, Eddie Ragsdale, Steven Caudell, Bill Barnes, Barry Kesler and Dean Addison.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 12 noon until time to leave for the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Georgia 30346 in memory of Mrs. Sara Ragsdale Mize.

Interment will be in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Sara Ragsdale Mize.
