Elsie Celestie Edwards

Elsie Celestie Edwards, age 89 of Ball Ground, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Embracing Hospice, Cumming, following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Jill Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the funeral home.


Mrs. Edwards was born August 22, 1925 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Carl Grigg and Ottie Price Grigg. She was retired from Hart Marx and was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Gilmer Edwards, great-granddaughter, Jayden Davis Langley and her niece, Dr. Pam Childress.


Mrs. Edwards is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Anne & Raymond Langley of Ball Ground, Georgia, brother, Bill Grigg of Gainesville, sister & brother-in-law, Betty & Rudolph Childress of Gainesville, brother & sister-in-law, Harold & Ann Grigg of Kirkwood, Missouri, grandchildren, Melissa & John Lytle of Champaign, Illinois, Josh & Layna Langley of Durhan, North Carolina and Jerel & Ashley Langley of Miami, Florida, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John's Creek Baptist Church, 6910 McGinnis Ferry Road, Alpharetta, Georgia 30005.
