Betty Mae Moss Cain

Obituary Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2014
Betty Mae Moss Cain, 83, of Gainesville, went home to be with Jesus, September 30, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, October 04, 2014 at Riverbend Baptist Church. Reverend Bucky Kennedy, Reverend Maxey Ladd and Reverend Philip McQueen will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and following the service at the church. Interment to be private at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to request her Sunday School Class to sit as a group in honor of Betty.

Betty, a native of Dawson County, was born to the late Gordon and Mae Moss on March 8, 1931. She was a graduate of Dawson County High School and Perry Business School. After graduation she went to work at Dale Electric, where she met her future husband, the late J.C. "Dude" Cain. Together, they founded Cain Electric Company in 1957 and worked side by side until his death in 1984. She continued in the business until 1998, when she sold it to her son, Benny Cain, and retired to enjoy traveling with friends and being with her family.

She had been an active member of Riverbend Baptist Church since 1951. She loved her church family especially the friendships she formed in her Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, James Moss, Gordon Moss, Jr., Aline Taffar, Helen Pirkle and Nell Cox.

She is survived by her children, Dwight and Denise Meeks, Wayne and Patti Howard, Benny Cain, Jerry and Pam Cain; her grandchildren, Daryl and Tami Butterworth, Jeff and Beverly Adams, William Jackson, Brett Meeks, Amanda Meeks, Ryan Howard, Holli Howard, Clay and D'Anna Cain, JuliAnn Cain; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Merle Crane, Lawton and Wanda Faye Cain, Al and Joyce Cain and Rhunae Ravan; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Betty had many years of declining health due to Parkinson's Disease. Betty was blessed with many wonderful caregivers and the family wishes to thank all of them especially the ones that were there to the end; Rhudeen Jackson, Pat Anderson, Donna Even and the wonderful staff at the Resting Nest Personal Care Home.
