Mr. Jirdon D. Calvery, age 81, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Calvery. He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Patricia Zimmerman Calvery, Flowery Branch, GA; stepchildren, Jeremy and Tamara Wells, Shaw AFB, Sumter, SC, Sean and Meredith Wells, Pell City, AL, and Tracy and Jeff Chesser, Lawrenceville, GA; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Carolyn Calvery, Waynoka, OK, and Gene and Vera Calvery, McLoud, OK; sisters, Shirley Owens, Oklahoma City, OK, and Donna Shick, Oklahoma City, OK.
Mr. Calvery was born August 22, 1933 in Fox, OK. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from Ace Hardware in Braselton, GA and was a member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He was a member of Gideons International and was an avid golfer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Newbern officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
