Eugene H. (Gene) Taylor

Eugene H. (Gene) Taylor, 95, of Gainesville passed away on September 13, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Darin Vogt and Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 1-1:45 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born on April 3, 1919 in Talmo to the late Jerry W. Taylor and Anna Vesta Murphy Taylor. He graduated from Jefferson High School and attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega. Mr. Taylor was an avid basketball player where he played for Jefferson High School and North Georgia College and also Chicopee Manufacturing Company where he retired with over 40 years of employment, and later retired form Hall County Board of Education where he was employed at Johnson High School. He was a member of Chicopee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bobby Taylor, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 73 years, Bonnie C. Taylor of Chicopee; daughter and son-in-law Sandra Marie and Mat Wheeler of Athens; number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
